As most of the world is aware, Summer Olympics 2012, hosted by the historic city of London, begin in just 16 days. These games will run from 27 July through 12 August and you can find a schedule of your favorite events at the official London 2012 Olympics webpage. Olympic fever is spreading, as retailers and manufacturers use these games as a part of their advertising. Recently, Filofax released an Olympic-inspired personal planner which features a Union flag on the cover with a London 2012 logo on the strap. The inserts include the following: unique olympic diaries, sports descriptions, fitness planner, daily schedule/games planner, historic Olympic facts and information, London transport map, Greater London map, Olympic Park venue map, UK venue map, London guide, London 2012 page marker, and London 2012 sticky labels. The planner is beautiful and can be obtained for 90 Pounds on the UK Filofax website.
The Ink Drop for July 2012, from The Goulet Pen Company, also displayed their appreciation for the summer games. Their latest shipment contained inks from around the world that represent each of the colors of the Olympic rings. The colors for July 2012 include:
- De Atramentis Gold
- Diamine Ultra Green
- J. Herbin Rouge Caroubier
- Noodler's Black Eel
- Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuyu-Kusa
I inked up the Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuyu-Kusa first. It is a beautiful shade of blue which is semi-wet, which is surprising because I generally tend to find Pilot Iroshizuku inks to be extremely dry and ultra fast drying. This ink will definitely be one I order and add to my ink collection. I love all of the inks in this month's Ink Drop with the exception of Noodler's Black Eel. Even though I use a black Cuban Filofax and a black leather satchel, I hate to use black ink….I find it a bit boring.
